When I tell people what I do for a living, that I travel the world playing great music with great musicians, i hear people say… “Nate, that’s so cool! Do you need a roadie or a drum tech or anything? I would love to go to some of the places you go!” And while I acknowledge that i have a VERY cool job, and I don’t for one moment take it for granted, through this blog I will attempt to (humorously) communicate some of the oft-seen hardships that a working jazz musician faces on a daily basis, while touring Europe (or even the US).
So I’m hoping that you guys will stay tuned to my blog, as I intend to update it regularly as I embark on my fall 2008 European tours with Dave Holland and Chris Potter. I will be filling you in on all the goings-on during my tours; the good, the bad, the on-time, the delayed, the lost baggage, the not-quite-ready hotel rooms, the wrong drums, the wrong bass amps, the lethargic audiences… and oh yeah, the music that i love to play…
all for now.
Nate
